چکیده

We develop a family of characteristic discontinuous Galerkin methods for transient advection-diffusion equations, including the characteristic NIPG, OBB, IIPG, and SIPG schemes. The derived schemes possess combined advantages of EulerianLagrangian methods and discontinuous Galerkin methods. An optimal-order error estimate in the L2 norm and a superconvergence estimate in a weighted energy norm are proved for the characteristic NIPG, IIPG, and SIPG scheme. Numerical experiments are presented to confirm the optimal-order spatial and temporal convergence rates of these schemes as proved in the theorems and to show that these schemes compare favorably to the standard NIPG, OBB, IIPG, and SIPG schemes in the context of advection-diffusion equations. Discontinuous Galerkin methods for coupled flow and reactive transport problems

Primal discontinuous Galerkin methods with interior penalty are proposed to solve the coupled system of flow and reactive transport in porous media, which arises from many applications including miscible displacement and acid-stimulated flow. A cut-off operator is introduced in the discontinuous Galerkin schemes to treat the coupling of flow and transport and the coupling of transport and react...

L2 stable discontinuous Galerkin methods for one-dimensional two-way wave equations

Simulating wave propagation is one of the fundamental problems in scientific computing. In this paper, we consider one-dimensional two-way wave equations, and investigate a family of L stable high order discontinuous Galerkin methods defined through a general form of numerical fluxes. For these L stable methods, we systematically establish stability (hence energy conservation), error estimates ...

The Discontinuous Galerkin FEM for Convection-Diffusion Equations

Abstract. This paper is concerned with the analysis of the discontinuous Galerkin finite element method applied to nonstationary convection-diffusion problems with nonlinear convection and nonlinear diffusion. We generalize results from [2], where linear diffusion is assumed. Optimal error estimates are obtained for the L(H) norm and interelement jump terms, however due to the nonlinearity of t...

Adaptive discontinuous Galerkin methods for state constrained optimal control problems governed by convection diffusion equations

We study a posteriori error estimates for the numerical approximations of state constrained optimal control problems governed by convection diffusion equations, regularized by Moreau-Yosida and Lavrentiev-based techniques. The upwind Symmetric Interior Penalty Galerkin (SIPG) method is used as a discontinuous Galerkin (DG) discretization method. We derive different residual-based error indicato...

Nodal discontinuous Galerkin methods for fractional diffusion equations on 2D domain with triangular meshes

This paper, as the sequel to previous work, develops numerical schemes for fractional diffusion equations on a two-dimensional finite domain with triangular meshes. We adopt the nodal discontinuous Galerkin methods for the full spatial discretization by the use of high-order nodal basis, employing multivariate Lagrange polynomials defined on the triangles. Stability analysis and error estimates...
